The core of our service offering to our clients is the assistance, management and fulfilment of their business advisory obligations; preparation of payroll, bookkeeping, accounting and taxation requirements.

The Partners at James Milne are all ICAS qualified Chartered Accountants. The firm continues to be a member of and is regulated by ICAS.

The role

Due to impending retirement, we are looking to recruit a manager to work in our Inverurie office Accounts Department.

The main task of this role is to have day to day responsibility for a portfolio of clients, both unincorporated and incorporated in relation to all their financial business affairs, working closely with our other departments and their obligations to clients, to ensure the accurate and timely completion of work and liaising with the partners of the firm in all aspects of the role.

Main duties and responsibilities

• Planning and management of year end accounts preparation for a diverse portfolio of clients with a dominant share of clients in the agricultural sector.
• Line manager for a team of accounts staff.
• Review of all work prepared by staff, providing feedback/training where necessary.
• Maintain and develop existing and new client relationships.
• Raise and resolve business and tax queries from/with clients, as well as any other issues with clients.
• Liaise with other departments as required.

About you

The successful candidate will:

• Be suitably qualified for this role, preferably with either ICAS or ACCA.
• Have current or previous experience of working in a professional practice.
• Be comfortable and familiar in face-to-face communications with clients.
• Have experience in dealing with both incorporated and unincorporated businesses.
• Knowledge of the agricultural sector would be an advantage.
• Have experience of using in-house accounts production and taxation software.
• Have a good working knowledge of the full Microsoft Office suite of products.
• Have a good working knowledge of modern accounting software products, including Xero and Sage.

Salary and benefits

• 35 hour working week.
• Salary commensurate with experience.
