Many individuals are now required
to complete an annual self-assessment tax return and James
Milne & Co. can take the burden and worry away from you
by carrying out this necessary exercise on your behalf.
Each year in April, our clients receive our annual tax data
questionnaire to assist them in the collation of the necessary
information for their tax return. Once this information is
received by us, it is verified and processed by our experienced
tax department. At all times we aim to take advantage of any
tax mitigation opportunities of which we become aware. Prior
to submission to the Inland Revenue, we send out a copy of
the return for your approval, together with all the important
backup documentation for retention in our specially designed
presentation folder. This folder ensures that the tax return
and all the important documentation are safely retained should
the Revenue authorities require to see them in the future.
At this time, we also clearly advise how much tax is to be
paid and when, and the reasons for any major difference from
the previous year. A number of clients may be entitled to
a repayment of tax and we ensure that any such amount is received
as soon as possible. All clients are also reminded of any
sums due just prior to the due date.
Our work does not finish there. As your official agent we
will deal with all ongoing correspondence with the Inland
Revenue relating to your tax return, with many of these matters
being dealt with, without further recourse to you.
In addition to the annual compliance work James Milne &
Co. are happy to advise on all matters relating to capital
gains tax and inheritance tax and any other tax planning issues.
